As part of our continued commitment to helping you be productive in whichever way you're working, we are excited to confirm that we are getting ready to release a Yammer desktop app for Windows and Mac in the next few months. We've gotten tons of great feedback on the current and we're excited to deliver a more full-featured desktop app. We look forward to releasing this new feature, and invite you to share your thoughts with us in the Yammer space of this community. I can't reply to replies unfortunately, but here's a few answers. We are working on a plan to offer improved analytics in general and will share more details soon. The reason we don't combine with the Teams desktop app is the same reason the Teams desktop app doesn't combine with the Oulook app. Different people and groups throughout organizations choose the tools that fit their individual communication needs. So if users want to easily hop into their conversations happening on Yammer from their desktop, funneling them through the Teams app would create greater confusion and a poorer user experience. I get that, but you realize that with all these different tools, it's just creating confusion in organizations. If you had one tool that connected all the different experiences it would be much simpler for the user community. I thought that was the whole point of Office 365 Groups. One fabric that connected all the different services. At least that's what we're being told. But we're getting all these different apps that all do pretty much the same thing. Office 365 Groups does certainly serve as one fabric connecting the services, allowing for significant benefits beyond serving as an entrypoint into each individual tool. For example, with Office 365 Groups connectivity we enable Yammer to leverage AAD management, easy access to productivity tools like OneNote, Microsoft Graph signals signals and Microsoft grade security and compliance. We appreciate your insight, as we are constantly evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of the various levels of integration between our tools. Link for download seems to be: Seems to be just a 32bit version. Interestingly, it appears to be simply a wrapped version of the web interface using Electron which is built on Node. JS Same technology used for Microsoft Visual Studio Code. Not really clear whether there are any actual benefits to using it this way but I'll give it a go for a while. In our tenant, we have some users receiving the notification to download and try the Desktop Yammer app. Seems MS is randomly presenting this to certain folks, but not sure how it determines which users get the notification. If you don't want to wait for the notification, it seems you can download it by going to. I wish we could disable the notification as we would rather have a controlled rollout but I haven't found a way to disable the message. I'm confused in why Microsoft didn't build an universal app since they anyway did build this from the ground. Yes compatibility with windows 7 would have been an issue, but Windows 7 is 2. I do get why they've used Electron which is a fantastic tool for building cross-platform applications and is based on Node. JS What I don't understand is why UWP seems so complex and difficult to build for. Both use web technologies! Why is even Microsoft being ultra-slow at releasing new UWP apps. Also why are so many UWP apps only compatible with either desktop or mobile and not both? I realise this is off on a different topic but Microsoft REALLY want to enhance adoption of UWP apps. They've done work to be able to adopt Android OK, so they canned that but still and Win32 apps. I can't help thinking this would be a relatively easy win for them.
